Phrase that we are going to open the exhibition. A danger is hidden under our feet: soil contamination.

Sophia- Causes of soil contamination

Soil pollution, is caused by the presence of human-made chemicals in the natural soil environment.

There are two types of waste; man-made and natural. Natural waste such as dead plants, animal carcasses, rotten fruits and vegetables improves the soil by making it more fertile. Man-made waste however,typically contains chemicals and toxins that are not commonly found in nature and as such, this kind of waste is what causes the most damage to human health and the environment.

Most commonly, soil contamination is caused by a combination of industrial activity, agricultural chemicals and the improper disposal of waste. Accidental spills and acid rain are also contributors.

Ximena- reuse the past, recycle the present, save the future. (our Earth is the only one in the universe where life is possible. Maintaining the earth's natural assets is critical to the survival of life on the planet. We have the good fortune to inhabit a magnificent, diverse world.)

The FAO warns that a third of the world's soils are degraded, a problem that can escalate and affect the entire world, that is, 9 billion people in 2050.

KIARA- some solutions for this problem:

water recovery: to take care of the plants and the garden, always use clean water, to avoid polluting discharges on the ground.

Do not abuse fertilizers and pesticides in crops and harvests

do not use detergent: it harms the floor.

reduce the purchase of products: increase the consumption of products that help or not pollute the environment.

use the 3 R's: recycle, reuse, reduce.

In the case of Mexico, we see that 78% of Mexicans have little or no interest in the environment and do not take any action and only 23% of the inhabitants who live in Mexico are interested in taking care of the soil
