In a competition also known as swim meet there are so many things that people don’t see they only see strength but they don’t know how many tears those competitors shred in training to get to the place they are at today. Every part of that swim meet means something to a swimmer for me the platform my passion, from where I observe the water quietly waiting for me. Deep breathing connects my body with my senses, pure energy through my body flows. My heart beats to the rhythm of desire containing my feelings waiting for that moment. “I will swim as lightning to illuminate the water, and the speed of the light with a crash will expose the strength of my being”. That startup sound “On your marks get set BEEP” throws me to the water breaking with strength the magic mirror confronting instantly with myself. Emotion and movement that delight my power, I swim with the goal in my head and forget about everything else around me. It hurts to know that you gave it your all and at the end, all that effort went down the drain because you got disqualified and what really hurts is that you think you are in first place and because of a thousandth of a second you lost that first place that really hurts.
Never underestimate a swimmer if you don’t know how it feels to swim km and km and miss weekdays just to go train but at the end all that training is worth the glory of a gold medal around your neck. I cannot even imagine a world without swimming, the evenings would be empty, and the days would be meaningless. I could not live without the smell of chlorine, without feeling the fresh water on my skin while diving. No, I couldn’t live without swimming.
