who during his first 17 years life was raised with his father, she was a very cultured and studied woman, that shows that women had the right to education. Although women had many more rights than any other civilization in the Middle Age, the father or in general, the men still had power over the daughter, and she could decide on certain things like finding a husband, and marry at an early age.
A marriage preference should be between people of the same social class, but this was not the case with Jade Slave, although her husband was studied and prepared, they had different social classes and often the husband was embarrassed, not of his wife, she was a woman so ready and intelligent, but by his father. This shows the organization of family life in medieval China.
In the following story, "The Pearl-Sewn Shirt", we can see some aspects of Chinese medieval society, this story shows a woman who is unfaithful to her husband when he goes on a trip, once the husband returns, he realizes the infidelity and decides to divorce. In these stories the value of respect for women is important, even if the woman has committed a serious offense to her husband, there is no punishment for it, unlike other empires and cultures during these times, the consequence most common was divorce.
