Siguiendo este razonamiento, la interpretación que da Seligman (1987) de los sueños es que son una elaboración cognitiva que intenta dar coherencia a los estímulos caóticos que generan las funciones fisiológicas que se han descrito en los puntos anteriores. El intento de racionalizar el sueño comienza en el mismo momento en que se produce y continúa cuando se narra o se escribe para consolidar su recuerdo. Seligman distingue dos tipos de contenidos en el sueño aquellos que tienen una alta definición visual o contenido emocional que corresponden a estímulos muy concretos e identificables y aquellas otras fases que son más borrosas y verbales que correspondería ya a un intento de explicar la transición entre dos estímulos visuales o emocionales nítidos.

Los sueños siempre han parecido algo místico, extraño o interesante ya que pueden ser divertidos, bizarros o aterradores. También son tan increíbles que brindan la posibilidad de crear una realidad alternativa, de crear otros mundos; incluso, pueden proveer de nuevas ideas, innovaciones, mejoras o increíbles creaciones

Dreams always seem to be something mystic or strange because they can be funny, bizarre or terrifying. Also, they are incredible for they offer the possibility to create an alternative reality to create other worlds; actually, they can provide new ideas, innovation, improvements or incredible creations. All these facts make dreams an interesting topic, likewise, because of the processes that happen in our body, the reason that we dream, and also de meaning of those dreams.

The first stage consists in a very light sleep; in the second stage of sleep, breathing pattern and heart rate slows; the third stage of sleep is deep and brain generates slow delta waves (this waves have the lowest frequency) ; during the fourth stage humans undergo a very deep sleep; the fifth stage consists of REM sleep.

On the philosophy field, lots of people claim that dreams are a text which needs to be understood to see the messages that they contain. For instance, the neoplatonic philosopher Sinesio wrote that dreams are a reflection of the human ethic and spiritual evolution.

Are amazing and strange, the processes that all our body, and above all, our brain does while we are sleeping. Scientists have not discovered the purpose of dreams, but they are on their way to it, and people can expect spectacular data about it. Also, it is meaning is not clear; people can make suppositions and try to understand them but even researchers are not sure about the dreams content. Although there are lots of questions without answer, dreams are still fascinating and mysterious experiences to ponder. As F. Scott Fitzgerald said, “Breathing dreams like air”.
