One day they are transferred to different prisons and separated. Karl escapes from the prison and his only thought is to get to Anna's house and, after traveling for three months the enormous distance that separates her from her, he pretends to be Richard. The woman distrusts; Do not believe him; He never believes him. But Karl knows how to beat Anna.

So Anna, in spite of doubts, is given to her completely, even though she is convinced: that man is not her husband. Karl supports his claim.

After a while, that does not matter anymore. Both accept reality and build a new life; They love each other and feel guilt free, and so Anna gets pregnant.

One day, she receives a letter from Richard.

For both the time of truth has arrived. "Tell me everything," Anna asks Karl. And he makes a relationship of his life with Richard and how his love for her came through the words of his friend. Karl and Anna, now more united than ever, only live in anticipation of Richard's appearance at any moment.

And that day comes. Dirty, lousy, disheveled, "spit on the war," the husband appears. He comes home to what he most wants to see his wife, as if nothing had happened, during the time he left.

He sees Karl and Anna together and he learns the truth about the couple's silences, more than they can tell him. Also note Anna's pregnancy. Furious, go get the knife or a gun to kill Karl. When suddenly Anna's words stop him, "I can not live without him. Kill me." Richard is surprised and inside said there is no remedy.

Shortly after Karl and Anna pick up their things to leave. And they leave together, facing the laughter, taunts and slander of the whole neighborhood. Before leaving, Anna's gaze often rested on Richard, "but it never occurred to him to stay by his side
