6. THE ANCIENT PALACE OF COUNTS OF THE ORIZABA’S VALLEY (THE BIG HOUSE OF TILES).
This house was built in the XVI Century, to be the Counts of Orizaba’s House. This building is covered with tiles of Puebla talavera. Its name too was “The Blue Palace”.
This place became in the headquarters of the Jockey Club, the club most luxurious in the Porfiriato.
In 1919, the house became in one of the stores of Sanborns. This place is surrounded for tales of Ghosts and spirits of the ancient owners.
7. THE ITURBIDE’S PALACE ( IMPERIAL PALACE, BANAMEX’S CULTURE MUSEUM)
This palace was built by Gonzalo Juarez de Cordoba, Higher Accountant of the Real Court of the Bank Accounts in 1665, this palace was his house. After of the Independence, the palace was offered to Agustin Iturbide to live there. In 1822, Agustin was crowned by the Constitutional Congress and proclaimed Emperor of Mexico in the main balcony.
In the XIX century, this place was the Iturbide Hotel, and finally, in 2004, it was became in the Banamex’s Culture palace. It’s the only building of the Viceregal time that have 4 floors.
8. NATIONAL PALACE (NEW HOUSES OF MOCTEZUMA).
This building was built by Hernan Cortes in 1529 to be his house. After, the viceregal government bought it to be the center of the power in the New Spain. After the Mexico’s Independence, Iturbide used it like headquarters of the Imperial Power. With the first republic this building became in the center of the Executive power.
9. DIVINE SAVIOR HOSPITAL.
This Hospital was built in 1700 by the Carpenter Jose Sagayo, to shelter to the women with mental problems. This place was protected for the Order of our Divine Savior (this is the reason of the name).
In 1910, the sick women was moved to the New Mental Hospital La Castañeda, and this place became in the offices of Ministry of Health and the Historic Archive of the same institute.
10. THE ANCIENT PALACE OF THE HALL CITY.
This place was built by Hernan Cortes in 1527 to be the Hall city of the Mexico city, until 1929, when it is became in the headquarters of the central government of the Mexico city.
