Shares in customs are based on the Mexican Customs Law, this law has been amended several times in order to have safer methods, the last reform that suffered the law was in 2014, this in order to improve evaluation processes, open calls for future customs agents and the position of tax areas. This organization influences Mexican customs because one of its objectives is to have an improvement in the performance of activities it and prevent counterfeiting and piracy.
In conclusion, all customs procedures and techniques should be towards promoting the passage of goods through customs with optimized resources. However, internationally the World Customs Organization (WCO) is considered as a privileged and true luxury for the customs administrations of the most powerful economies in the world, because that is where the big decisions that set the course of take International Trade.
Likewise, and as otherwise may not be neglecting emerging economies like that of most Latin American countries, who, for lack of adequate customs infrastructure to increasing changes in trade, require technical support mainly from WCO, as well as issues concerning the tariff classification and customs procedures.
The WCO has made considerable progress in the international harmonization of customs procedures. Their efforts have had considerable success. The WCO has developed and introduced the Harmonized System of Description and Coding of goods, which is used worldwide as a base system for the classification of goods and collection of customs duties.
As previously mentioned, the WCO and WTO are coordinating their efforts to eliminate the last barriers to trade by simplifying and harmonizing customs procedures and regimes in the world. The combined influence of the WCO and WTO will contribute significantly both trade facilitation and compliance with trade laws.
