La innovación financiera es vista como el “motor” que lleva al sistema financiero hacia su meta de mejorar el desempeño de lo que los economistas llaman la “economía real”.

Es difícil intentar siquiera medir el impacto de la innovación.

- En algunos de los papers menciona el tema de Patentes financieros (innovación financiera)

- ¿Cuál es la tendencia?

Los métodos usados por los innovadores incluyen:

- Secretos comerciales (coca cola)

- Patentes y licencias

- Etiquetas de propiedad (copyright, trademark).

No obstante, en el sistema financiero, los secretos comerciales no funcionan debido a que para los productos, tanto los inversionistas como los reguladores exigen transparencia. (para procesos sería técnicamente más factible). Asimismo, las patentes son inviables para los productos financieros. Las innovaciones financieras han sido consideradas como “procesos de negocio”.

Aún así, en 1998, el juicio de “State Street Bank v. Signature Finance” abrió la puerta para que se puedan realizar patentes en productos (Sistema de gestión de activos). Aún no queda claro si es una decisión restrictiva o general, y se requiere mayor investigación en este tema.

- Revisar la página web para identificar qué tipos de patentes financieros se vienen registrando con más frecuencia y sacar un print de ello.
