Con base en estos resultados podemos concluir que la hiperglucemia induce la apoptosis de las células RINm5F a través de la movilización y fosforilación de p53 en la mitocondria por activación de p38 MAPK, o que probablemente permite su interacción con proteínas pro apoptóticas como Bax, contribuyendo a la permeabilízación de la membrana mitocondrial.
