Caso. Era el primer día de trabajo de Joaquín en su trabajo

Some employees didn’t agree with the decision of having a new manager that wasn’t as involved in the Company as other employees that had been working longer for it.

Joaquin realized that he didn’t had any authority over some employees, so he decided to talk personally with each one of them, and he asked them about their opinions of the company and their personal aspirations.

He tried to get to know personally each employee, and he was very empathetic with all of them, offering them his support to get them on his side.

Most of the employees, changed their attitude and accepted their news manager. They felt satisfied for being consulted and part of the proyects of the new boss, but Peter and Mario didn’t. They were in charge of the departments of Production and Marketing.

Joaquin followed the behavior of each employee and area manager, and worked to make stronger relationships, but soon he realized the issue with Peter and Mario. He decided to talk with both of them and ask them directly why did they disagree with his job and why couldn’t they work properly. He decided to do it with authority, showing confidence and firmness, and letting them know that they replaceable if they didn’t cooperate.

Peter realized that he might loose his job if he kept the same attitude, and decided to make an effort to support Joaquin. Mario was still upset and didn’t change his behavior at all.

Joaquin saw Peter’s improvement, so he tried to had a reciprocal gesture and offered Peter more and bigger responsibilities and that lead to a salary raise. When Mario realized that his partner was doing better than before, and that he was stuck and even worse, he looked up for Joaquin and offered him an apology for his late behavior.

Joaquin accepted the apology but asked Mario to show that his ability to grow, and he explain to him that that was the best way to get everything better in the company. Mario had to work hard, but he got better every day, and Joaquin always supported him. Eventually he gave Mario more and bigger responsibilities.

Joaquin managed to get involved and he earned the respect of his employees. He applied his authority and reached the expected goals of the company.
